From the Road: How to Mitigate PierPASS Fee Increases

PierPASS is a not-for-profit company that addresses congestion, security, and air quality issues in the Los Angeles and Long Beach port region. In 2005, PierPASS started an OffPeak program to create incentives for cargo owners to move cargo through the ports during off-peak times to reduce congestion and pollution. PierPASS charges fees for cargo moved through the ports during the peak hours of 3 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

As of August 1, 2011, PierPASS increased its fees from $50 to $60 for TEUs and from $100 to $120 for FEUs. PierPASS implemented the increases to offset program costs. Read More…
