APM Terminals: Vessel Arrivals in Last 48 Hours

Terminal data is now available on the Live Incident Monitoring Dashboard, which provides updates about terminal and vessel information following the June 27 cyber attack. In addition to tracking the location of vessels, you may drill down into the port and terminal details to see the number of vessel arrivals and departures by day over the past two weeks based on AIS (live vessel monitoring) data. The dashboard is updated every four hours.

As of 12pm UTC, June 30, 2017, most APM Terminals have a steady flow of vessels. 9 APM Terminals have not had vessel arrivals in the last 48 hours. However, it may be the case that some terminals are less busy and it is normal to have no vessel arrivals in two days. On the other hand, the terminals in Castello de la Plana, Mobile, and St Petersburg should have more vessel arrivals when we compare the figures to their 14-day averages.

Cyber Attack: 73% of Vessels Running Normally

On June 27, a cyber attack hit The Maersk Group and impacted its operations around the world. Several APM Terminals were affected, including its terminals in Los Angeles, New York-New Jersey, and Rotterdam that closed for the day.

We are monitoring the situation and its impact on vessels heading to APM Terminals and on the schedules of vessels operated by Maersk. The dashboard shows vessel locations and each vessel’s ETA at its next scheduled port based on AIS (live vessel monitoring) data. We found that about 73% of Maersk’s vessels are running normally, over 5 knots per hour.
