Carrier Reliability Improved 4.7% in May 2017

CargoSmart analyzes schedule reliability each month to provide shippers and logistics service providers with insights on their carriers’ performance. This month, we reviewed the schedule reliability of 24 ocean carriers across 12 trade lanes. Overall, on-time schedule reliability improved 4.7%, increasing from 58.6% in April 2017 to 63.3% in May 2017. Read More…


Ocean Alliance and Reliability Updates for Europe in Spring 2017

CargoSmart’s chief commercial officer delivers insight on the consistency of the new schedules, to see how carriers performed before and after the transition.

The three mega shipping alliances, 2M, OCEAN, and THE, started new services in April. A great migration of over 1,000 vessels has been occurring as vessels move from their previous routes to their new routes. The vessels have almost completed their migration. As of May 31, 2017, 94% of the vessels have been rolled out on the trans-Atlantic trade and 88% of the vessels have been rolled out on the Asia-Europe trade. Read More…

Port of Rotterdam Powers Its Route Planner Tool with CargoSmart

CargoSmart is pleased to announce that the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the largest port in Europe in terms of container throughput, handling over 12.4 million TEUs in 2016, is using CargoSmart’s sailing schedule data to provide shippers with greater visibility to the available route options through its port. The port’s new route planning tool, Navigate, integrates CargoSmart’s deep-sea vessel schedule data with barge, rail, and truck schedules for shippers to find and compare routes. CargoSmart is helping the port to digitize its business and connect its ecosystem of shippers, transportation providers, and depots to improve the efficiencies of planning and shipping through the port.
